At nine o'clock Eastern, every single day, one board goes live and everybody in the room plays it at the same moment. Ten rounds, sixty seconds each. You lock one word a round, and when the buzzer goes the rarest word takes the round.
You do not have to organise anything or know anybody. OUTLIER hosts it, the clock starts it, and it starts at nine either way, every day, no exceptions. Doors open fifteen minutes early, and that is not dead time: it is the only part of a word game where you get to talk to the people you are about to play. Arrive early and meet the room.

One short email thirty minutes before the game, with a link that puts you straight in the waiting room. One line, one link, off again in a click.
You will not know which board until you sit down
The type changes from one game to the next, and the board itself is new every single time. These are what you could be walking into.
- Open BoardNo special rule. A straight board, rare words hiding in plain sight.
- DecoyTrust nothing. The easy words are bait.
- ScarceThe alphabet didn't all show up today. Make do with what's left.
- CopseA few consonants show up twice. Watch for the pairs.
- VanishingThe board is vanishing. One letter goes every round, and only 15 are left by the end.
- SequoiaSome letters just keep appearing. Lean into them.
It has its own leaderboard
Outlier Live Daily has its own rating, kept apart from your daily board rank, your streak, your season standing and even the casual Outlier Live rating. A result you earned by being in the room at nine should not be watered down by matches played at lunchtime. Which means your place on it says something specific: not that you are good at word games, but that you showed up and beat the other people who showed up.
