OUTLIERLIVE

Open SeatBeta

Leave a seat open and we'll fill it.

Nobody will be asked to play you, and you will not be asked either.

Never between 8:30 and 9:20 PM ET — that hour belongs to Outlier Live Daily.

What it is

A switch that says you are up for Outlier Live, our live game. That is all it is.

Outlier Live is better against a real person, and the only reason a game ever seats a house account is that nobody real was there at that moment. Open Seat is how we find out who is.

What happens when it’s on

  1. You leave the seat open. Flick the switch and carry on browsing. Nothing else changes.
  2. We spot somebody else. When another player who has also switched it on is around at the same time, we ask you both.
  3. You both say yes. A board opens and you are in it. Two players, or three if three of you happen to be about.

Say no and that game goes ahead without you. The switch stays on, and nothing is held against you for passing.

What it will never do

  • Drop you into a game. You are asked every single time, about that specific game. Turning the switch on is not an agreement to play, it is permission to be asked.
  • Interrupt a game you’re in. While you are playing, it stays quiet.
  • Ask during Outlier Live Daily. Never between 8:30 and 9:20 PM ET. That hour belongs to the one game everybody is invited to.

Turning it off

Same switch, any time, and it takes effect immediately. It is meant to be flicked on and off as your evening changes rather than set once and regretted — on when you fancy a game, off when you don’t.
